Master Chess is a clean digital version of classic chess from CodeThisLab, built for anyone who wants a full game without setting up a board. Play a complete match from opening to checkmate against the computer, or hand the device to a friend and play locally on the same screen.
Every legal move is enforced automatically, so you can focus on strategy instead of the rulebook. Castling, en passant and pawn promotion all work the way they do over the board. A quick game against the easiest AI setting takes a few minutes; a serious match against a friend or the hardest difficulty can run much longer.
Controls
Play with mouse or touch. Click or tap a piece to see its legal moves highlighted, then click or tap the destination square to move it, or drag the piece straight there. When a pawn reaches the far rank, a menu lets you pick which piece to promote it into.
Modes
Choose local two-player to pass the device back and forth with a friend, or play against the computer at Easy, Medium or Hard difficulty.
Tips
- Control the center with pawns and knights before committing your queen.
- Castle within the first several moves to tuck your king away and connect your rooks.
- Look one move ahead for forks and pins before every capture — most games turn on a single overlooked threat.
A good pick for anyone who wants an honest chess board on any device, whether that's a five-minute game against the Easy AI or a longer session with a friend on the same screen.
