Super Mario World is the defining 16-bit platformer that shaped a generation of gaming on the SNES. You play as Mario or Luigi exploring the sprawling Dinosaur Land to rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser. The world map is massive, packed with secret exits, ghost houses, and switch palaces that alter the environment of levels you've already beaten.
The platforming physics remain unmatched even decades later, emphasizing momentum. You can build up speed to launch yourself off ramps, spin jump on spiked enemies to safely cross hazards, and discover Yoshi, the green dinosaur who can swallow enemies and gain special powers depending on the color of Koopa shell he holds in his mouth.

Playing this classic title in a browser emulator requires mapping the traditional SNES controller to your keyboard.

Tips
- The Cape Feather: Getting a running start and jumping with the cape allows you to fly. Once airborne, tap the opposite direction of your momentum to pull up and maintain your flight indefinitely.
- Reserve Item: You have a reserve item box at the top of the screen. Press Select (Shift) to drop it down at any time, which is a lifesaver before tricky boss fights.
- Spin Jump Utility: The spin jump (Z key) isn't just for breaking blocks. You can bounce on hazards like Thwomps, chainsaws, and spiky enemies that would normally hurt you.
