Kingdom Rush is a classic tower defense game from Ironhide Game Studio: orc hordes, goblin raiders and worse are marching down a fixed road toward your kingdom, and your job is to line that road with towers before the waves arrive. There's no free placement — you build on set plots along the path, so every level is really a puzzle about which plot gets which tower and when to upgrade instead of expand.
Gold comes from kills and carries between waves, so early rounds are about restraint: cheap barracks to soak melee hits, an archer tower or two for reach, and enough gold left over to upgrade rather than blow it all on a wide but weak line. A hero unit fights alongside your towers and gets stronger as the level goes on, and a handful of one-time spells — reinforcements, a rain of fire — bail you out when a wave gets past your line. Lose too many lives and the level ends, but finishing with lives to spare is what earns the higher star rating.
Controls
Mouse only. Click an empty tower plot to build, click a built tower to upgrade or sell it, click your hero to select and move him, and click a spell icon then a target on the battlefield to cast it.
Tips
- Barracks soldiers are cheap meat shields — use them to stall melee units in front of your ranged towers, not to deal real damage.
- Upgrading an existing tower is almost always better value than building a new cheap one; a fully upgraded tower hits far harder per gold spent.
- Save your hero for choke points where enemies bunch up, and pull him back to heal if his health bar gets low.
- Watch for flying or armored enemies in later waves — they ignore some tower types entirely, so keep at least one anti-air or anti-armor option in your lineup.
It's a slower, more tactical pace than most tower defense games, which suits players who'd rather plan a level out than click frantically through it.
