World Wrestling 23 is a cartoon wrestling brawler built around timing rather than button-mashing. Every exchange comes down to reading your opponent: throw a high or low attack, or hold back and defend, and the wrestler who reacts faster gets the takedown. Matches are short and physical, closer to a fighting game than a sports sim.
Championship mode has you pick a wrestler representing a country and fight through a four-match bracket to become World Champion, winning every round to stay in. Versus mode strips it down to a 30-second one-on-one against a friend on the same keyboard, where whoever lands the most points when the clock runs out takes it.
Controls
Single player
- Arrow keys — move and defend
- A, S, D — attack
Two players (Versus mode)
- Player One: Arrow keys to move and defend, J, K, L to attack
- Player Two: WASD to move and defend, C, V, B to attack
Tips
- Mix up high and low attacks — an opponent who is only defending against one gets caught by the .
- Don't just attack on cooldown; watch for the moment your opponent commits to a move, since that's your opening.
- In Championship mode, save your best timing for the later bracket rounds — early opponents are usually easier to read.
It's best suited to a quick session alone or a couch match with a second player, since both play styles run on the same keyboard at once.
