Made by Nicky Case in 2016, it's over in a few minutes. There's no score to chase and no fixed path through it: the shapes react to whatever you choose to photograph and publish, drifting further apart as their differences get emphasized again and again, until the story reaches its own conclusion.

Tips

• The headlines you choose to publish are the entire mechanic — photographing the same scene differently sends the story somewhere else.
• Watch which shapes start clustering together and which start avoiding each ; that's the simulation responding directly to what you just broadcast.
• It's short enough to replay more than once, and a second run rarely plays out the same way as the first.

It's less a game to master than a short, sharp piece to sit with once — worth trying if you're curious how a few minutes of clicking can make a point about media and tribalism that a lecture usually can't.
