About Time Clones

Time Clones is a puzzle-platformer built around a single trick: you can't solve a level alone, so you make copies of yourself who did. Move through a level once, then drop a clone that plays your exact run back on a loop while you take a second pass, and now two of you are on the field at once, one holding a switch while the walks through the door it opened.

Every level asks for a different arrangement of your past selves. Some doors need a body standing on a pressure plate for good, so a clone parked there is the only way through. Others need timing across the loop, where your live self has to be in the right spot the instant your clone's route brings it back around. Twenty-four levels ramp from a single obvious clone to routes stacking several of them at once, and a built-in hint will show you the solution if a level has you stuck.

Controls

  • Move: WASD or the arrow keys
  • Jump: Spacebar
  • Clone: C
  • Restart level: R
  • Back to menu: Esc

Tips

  • Walk your first pass slowly and deliberately — your clone repeats it exactly, mistakes included, so a clean run is worth more than a fast one.
  • Plan backwards from the last door: figure out what needs to be held down at the end, then work out which pass of yours should be the one left standing there.
  • If a level feels impossible, you're probably missing a clone. Restart and add one more pass before you assume the puzzle needs something else.
  • Use the hint if you're stuck for more than a couple of minutes — it shows the actual solution rather than a vague nudge.

Time Clones was made by developer Robert Alvarez. It plays in the browser with nothing to install, and suits short sessions — a level or two at a time is enough to feel the puzzle click.

Time Clones FAQ

How does cloning work in Time Clones?
When you press C, your character resets to the level start and a clone begins replaying every move you just made, exactly as you made it, while you take control of a fresh run. You can stack several clones this way to have multiple copies acting at once.
What are the controls?
Move with WASD or the arrow keys, jump with Spacebar, clone with C, restart the level with R, and press Esc to return to the menu.
I'm stuck on a level — is there a hint?
Yes. Each level has a built-in hint that shows you a working solution if you can't figure out the clone arrangement on your own.
How many levels does it have?
24 levels, starting simple and building up to puzzles that need several clones working together.
