SUPERHOT Prototype is the initial proof-of-concept release for the critically acclaimed first-person shooter where time moves only when you move. By removing the relentless pace of traditional shooters, the game transforms action-heavy firefights into a tactical puzzle. When you stand still, the world around you stops, letting you analyze the battlefield, dodge bullets in mid-air, and plan your next move with absolute precision.
Players find themselves dropped into a series of minimal, high-contrast environments facing off against red, glass-like enemies. Armed with limited ammunition and outnumbered in every room, you must use physical movement, spatial awareness, and quick reflex control to navigate each level. A single hit is fatal, requiring you to think several steps ahead to turn the tables on your attackers.
Key Controls
- Movement: Use the W, A, S, and D keys (or the Arrow keys) to step in any direction.
- Aiming and Looking: Move your Mouse to look around and target your enemies.
- Shooting: Press the Left Mouse Button to fire your weapon.
- Jumping: Press the Spacebar to jump over obstacles or dodge incoming bullets.
- Throwing Weapon: Press the Right Mouse Button to throw a weapon once its magazine is empty.
Gameplay Tips
- Stop to Plan: Take advantage of the game's core mechanic. If you are overwhelmed or hear a shot, stop moving completely to see where the bullets are traveling and calculate your escape.
- Sidestep Bullets: Bullets leave distinct trail lines. You don't always need to run away; a single step to the side can let a bullet fly harmlessly past your shoulder.
- Stun and Steal: If you run out of bullets, throw your empty gun directly at an enemy. This will stun them and send their weapon flying into the air, allowing you to grab it and continue fighting.
