Square Bird is a one-button arcade game with a simple rule: your bird never stops moving forward, and the ground below it is full of gaps, spikes and hazards. The only way to stay alive is to lay square eggs directly beneath the bird, stacking them into a tower that lifts it clear of whatever is coming next.
The tension comes from timing rather than reflexes in the usual sense — lay eggs too early and you waste height you'll need later, too late and the bird drops into a hazard. Landing well on the grass between obstacles a few times in a row triggers Fever Mode, a short power-up window where the bird fires forward and clears obstacles outright instead of needing an egg tower under it.
Controls
Press the spacebar or hold the left mouse button to lay eggs. Release to stop stacking and let the bird glide.
Tips
- Don't hold the button constantly — short, well-timed taps build a controlled tower instead of a wasteful one.
- Chain a few perfect grass landings in a row to trigger Fever Mode before a tricky obstacle cluster.
- Watch the upcoming gap width, not just the next obstacle — sometimes it's better to stay low and coast than to climb early.
It's a quick pick-up-and-play game that suits short sessions — a few runs at a time rather than one long sitting.
