Snakes and Ladders turns the classic board game into a quick browser match: roll the dice, race your piece up a winding 100-square board, and hope you land at the foot of a ladder instead of the head of a snake. Before the match starts you can pick whether the hazard squares show up as snakes or as chutes — same board, same squares, just a different reskin.

Each turn is one dice roll that moves your token forward. Land on a ladder and you jump straight ahead several squares; land on a snake or chute and you slide back down. Roll a 6 and you get to roll again right away, so a lucky streak can close a big gap in a couple of turns. Play solo against the computer, or hand the device around for local pass-and-play.

Controls

Mouse or touch only — click the dice to roll, and click through the menus to set up players, colours and game mode. No keyboard is needed.

Tips

• Rolling a 6 gives you an extra roll on top of your move, so a bad early position can turn around fast.
• The ladders and snakes sit on fixed squares on this board, so after a round or two you'll start remembering which squares to hope for and which to dread.
• Pick human-vs-human mode if you want a quick pass-and-play round with someone next to you instead of facing the computer.
