About Forgotten Hill: Fall

Your car breaks down on a cold autumn night, and the only shelter in sight is an old house set back from the road. You knock, step inside looking for a phone or someone to help — and the door shuts behind you. Forgotten Hill: Fall is the opening chapter of FM Studio's point-and-click horror series, and it wastes no time trapping you somewhere you don't want to be.

Most of the house is dark, and for long stretches your cursor is the only real light you have. Exploring a room means sweeping it carefully rather than glancing at it, since coded doors, hidden objects and small environmental clues are how you push further inside. A wrong move can end the run outright — the game leans on jump scares and sudden deaths rather than combat, so caution matters more than speed.

Controls

Mouse only. Click on objects of interest to pick them up and add them to your inventory, then click an inventory item and use it on another object or door to interact with it.

Tips

  • Sweep your cursor across every corner of a dark room before moving on — with the cursor as your light source, items are easy to walk right past.
  • Check items you're already carrying against new obstacles; most puzzles are solved by using something from your inventory on something in the room.
  • Don't rush through doors or dark openings. Deaths tend to be sudden, and the game autosaves your progress, so a wrong move costs you a restart rather than the whole run.

It's a short, atmospheric session rather than a long campaign, and a good place to start if you want to try the Forgotten Hill series from the beginning.

Forgotten Hill: Fall FAQ

What are the controls in Forgotten Hill: Fall?
The game is played entirely with the mouse. Click on objects of interest to pick them up, then click an inventory item to use it on another object or door.
Does Forgotten Hill: Fall save my progress?
Yes. The game autosaves as you go, so if you die to a jump scare or a wrong move you pick back up instead of restarting from the beginning.
Do I need to play another Forgotten Hill game first?
No. Fall is the first game in FM Studio's Forgotten Hill series, so it's the right place to start.
Why is the game so dark?
Much of the house is unlit and your cursor works as your only light source for long stretches, which is a deliberate part of the game's atmosphere.
