About Fireboy & Watergirl 6 Fairy Tales

Fireboy & Watergirl 6: Fairy Tales adds a third character on top of the series' usual pair, and it changes the whole rhythm of the puzzles. You're still guiding Fireboy through lava and Watergirl through water while green goo kills either of them on contact, but now magical fairies sit between you, waiting to be dragged into color-matched lanterns to move platforms, hold down buttons, or open new paths.

The result is a level that's really three small jobs running at once: keep Fireboy moving, keep Watergirl moving, and keep an eye on which fairy needs to go where before a door closes on you. With two players it splits naturally — one person per runner, someone grabs the mouse for fairies as needed. Solo, it's a genuine juggling act.

Controls

Fireboy: Arrow keys. Watergirl: W, A, D. Fairies: click and drag with the mouse (or a finger on touchscreens) into their matching lantern or switch.

Tips

  • Match the color, always: a fairy only activates a lantern of its exact color, except the white fairy, which works on any of them — save it for whichever puzzle you're stuck on.
  • Drag fairies while you're still moving: you don't have to stop Fireboy or Watergirl to reposition a fairy, so line it up mid-run instead of pausing at the door.
  • Skip a gem over a hazard if you're playing solo: collecting every diamond matters less than reaching the exit in one piece when you're already juggling two runners and a fairy alone.

Best with a second player at the keyboard, but the added fairy layer makes even the solo version feel like a fresh entry rather than a reskin of the earlier games.

Fireboy & Watergirl 6 Fairy Tales FAQ

What are the controls in Fireboy & Watergirl 6: Fairy Tales?
Fireboy uses the Arrow keys, Watergirl uses W, A and D, and fairies are controlled by clicking and dragging them with the mouse into a matching lantern or switch.
What do the fairies actually do?
Dragging a fairy into a lantern of its matching color can move a platform, hold down a button, or unlock a path. The white fairy is the exception -- it activates any color of lantern.
Can you play Fireboy & Watergirl 6: Fairy Tales alone?
Yes, one player can control both runners and the fairies, though it's noticeably harder than splitting the roles between two people since you're managing three things at once.
