Boss Level Shootout drops you into the shoes of Billy, a kid who gets sucked straight into his own retro game console. There's no exploring or grinding between fights — you're loaded straight into a boss arena, and the whole game is a string of one-on-one showdowns against increasingly strange, pattern-heavy enemies.
Each of the ten bosses has its own attack rhythm, so the actual skill here is reading a fight before you commit to it: dash through an opening, land your shots, then get out before the counter-attack lands. Beating a boss pays out coins you spend between rounds on better weapons and skills, so later fights lean more on your loadout and less on raw reflexes than the early ones do.
Controls
WASD or the arrow keys to move, Z or K to shoot. It runs straight in the browser on desktop or mobile, nothing to install.
Tips
- Watch a boss's first attack all the way through before pushing in — most patterns repeat, so one dodge tells you the timing for the rest of the fight.
- Spend early coins on whatever speeds up your dash or fire rate rather than raw damage; surviving the pattern matters more than burst damage in the first few bosses.
- Keep moving between shots. Standing still to line up a hit is what most of the bosses' attacks are built to punish.
