Tic Tac Toe is the simplest kind of strategy game there is: a 3x3 grid, two symbols, and one goal — get three of your marks in a row before your opponent does. There's no setup, no tutorial to sit through, and a full game is usually over in under a minute, which makes it the kind of thing you play once and then keep playing while you wait for something else.
Every match plays out the same way on the surface — tap an empty square, place your mark, pass the turn — but the actual game happens in your head. With only nine squares, every move closes off options for both sides, so a match against anyone paying attention almost always ends in a draw. The fun is in catching the moment your opponent isn't paying attention.
Controls
Tap or click an empty square on the grid to place your mark there. That's the entire control scheme — no keyboard shortcuts, no held buttons, just pointing at where you want to play.
Tips
- Take the center square first if it's open — it's part of more possible winning lines than any edge square.
- If you can't have the center, a corner is the next best opening; corners are involved in more winning lines than the edge squares.
- Always check the board for an opponent with two in a row before making your own move — blocking comes before attacking.
- Watch for a "fork": a move that sets up two different ways to win at once, so your opponent can only block one of them.
It's a game built for short breaks and quick rematches rather than long sessions — pull it up for a minute between things, not as the main event.
