Thumb Fighter Christmas is the holiday-skinned version of Avix Games' one-button thumb war: two players share a keyboard and duke it out thumb-to-thumb in a cosy arena with a fireplace, a snowy roof and a North Pole backdrop, instead of the plain background of the original.

The rules stay exactly as simple as a real thumb war. Tap your key to attack and chip away at your opponent's stamina bar. Once their stamina is empty, hold your key down to pin their thumb and win the round. Whoever reads the player's timing best, not whoever mashes hardest, usually wins.

Tips

• Don't just mash your key — tapping repeatedly drains your own stamina almost as fast as it drains theirs.
• Attack right after your opponent misses or right when their stamina hits zero, that's the opening that actually lands.
• If both thumbs attack at once it's a clash — whoever's stamina recovers first usually gets the next real hit in.
• The moment you see their stamina bar empty out, switch from tapping to holding — that's what pins them for the win.
