Stack City is a drag-and-drop merge game about building a skyline one scaffold at a time. You start with a small, mostly empty grid and a stock of scaffolding pieces, and every plot you fill either grows a new structure or merges into one you already own. There's no timer and no fail state pushing you along — the game is happy to let you sit and plan your next placement for as long as you want.
The loop is simple to learn but has real depth once your city starts filling up. Plots are color-coded, so a piece only fits on a matching square, and dragging two identical buildings together merges them into a taller, more valuable one. Each finished building earns coins automatically over time, and those coins buy fresh scaffolding and unlock new land to expand onto. The satisfying part is watching a cluttered grid of mismatched scaffolds slowly resolve into a skyline of tall, matched towers as you merge your way up.
Controls
Everything is played with touch or mouse — drag a piece from your stock onto an open, color-matching plot to place it, then drag matching buildings onto each to merge them. There's no keyboard involved, so it plays the same way on a phone, tablet or desktop.
Tips
- Don't rush to fill every plot — leaving open space for merges is usually worth more than placing a piece just to clear your hand.
- Prioritize merging toward taller buildings before buying new land; higher-tier buildings generate more coin income per plot.
- Watch the color-coding before you commit a piece — an unmatched scaffold sitting on the wrong color can block a merge you need later.
It's a relaxed pick for anyone who likes tidying a cluttered board into an orderly city, in short sessions or long ones.
