Shipo.io drops you into a small wooden ship on an open ocean shared with captains, cannon at the ready. The whole game runs on one simple exchange: sink a rival's ship, and their gold spills into the water for you to scoop up. Spend it, and your own ship gets tougher, so every fight is really a bet on whether you can out-shoot someone before they out-shoot you.
There's no map to explore or story to follow, just a rolling, real-time scramble against whoever else is on the server. Early on you're an easy target circling smaller boats for scraps of gold; stick around long enough and better cannons turn you into the thing newer players are trying to avoid.
Controls
Move the mouse to steer your ship, and left-click to fire your cannons at nearby enemies. That's the entire control scheme, on both desktop and touchscreens.
Tips
- Go after ships that are already smaller or damaged before picking a fight with a heavily upgraded one — a kill you can actually land is worth more than a risky one.
- Put gold into cannon upgrades before spending on flag designs or crew — firepower is what keeps you alive long enough to enjoy the cosmetics.
It's a quick pick-up-and-play session rather than a long one: good for a few rounds of ship-to-ship skirmishing whenever you've got a few spare minutes.
