Shady Bears Game

Shady Bears is a clever and fast-paced 2D platformer developed by Air Guslar that turns your own history into your biggest obstacle. Playing as a small bear on a quest to gather acorns across various forest levels, you face a unique challenge: every step, jump, and turn you make is recorded. Moments later, a shadow bear emerges, tracing your exact path with a slight delay. If you collide with this clone or any active shadow on the screen, you instantly lose a life.

A typical session demands quick path planning and constant motion. Because the shadows mimic your trajectory, landing back on a platform you just left is highly dangerous. Collecting fireflies scattered around the levels provides a temporary reprieve by stunning or clearing the shadows, while grabbing honey raises your score but increases the overall risk. The game is playable solo, but also supports chaotic local multiplayer for up to four players on the same keyboard.

Controls

Shady Bears supports up to four players on a single keyboard. The default key mappings are:

• Player 1: Use the Left / Right Arrow keys to move and the Up Arrow key to jump.
• Player 2: Use A / D to move and W to jump.
• Player 3: Use J / L to move and I to jump.
• Player 4: Use F / H to move and T to jump.

Gameplay Tips

• Avoid Retracing Steps: Never jump straight up and down on the same platform, as your shadow will land precisely where you did. Keep moving forward in a loop or transition to a different platform level to stay safe.
• Utilize Fireflies strategically: Do not grab fireflies immediately if you have space. Save them for tight situations when shadows block critical exits or surround your target acorns.
• Coordinate in Multiplayer: When playing with friends, assign one player to lure and stack shadows in a corner while the players focus on safely harvesting acorns.
