Samurai Sam is a physics-based action game that challenges your reflexes and coordination in a series of fast-paced, swing-to-strike challenges. Unlike traditional side-scrolling platformers, you do not walk across the screen using a virtual joystick or keyboard controls. Instead, you navigate the environment entirely by launching a grappling hook to swing from platform to platform and using your momentum to slice through obstacles and enemies.
Every level is a playground of gravity and momentum where you must coordinate your hooks to avoid falling into hazards. The combat is heavily physics-driven; you do not press an attack button to swing your katana. Instead, you rely on the speed and trajectory of your body to carry your blade through incoming enemies. One misjudged launch can send you plummeting, while a perfectly timed release lets you clear a whole gap of guards in a single fluid motion.
Controls
- Aim Hook: Click and drag your mouse (or tap and drag on touch screens) to aim your grappling line.
- Launch & Swing: Release the mouse button (or lift your finger) to fire the hook and swing.
- Slash Enemies: Automatic based on physical contact and swing momentum.
Gameplay Tips
- Build Momentum: Wait until the bottom of your swing arc before releasing to maximize your speed and travel further.
- Aim for Direct Hits: Since your sword strike relies on your swing speed, make sure you line up your launch so that you pass directly through your enemies.
- Adjust on the Fly: You can fire a new hook mid-air to redirect your momentum or save yourself from falling when a launch goes wide.
