Plonky is a platformer built around a single hazard-dodging loop: guide Plonky across a run of short, chaotic levels packed with moving saws, explosives, spike pits and open cliffs, using rope swings to bridge the wider gaps. Each stage is small enough to retry in seconds, so a wrong step rarely costs more than a quick restart.
The challenge comes from timing rather than exploration. Saws sweep back and forth on fixed patterns, explosives go off on cues you learn by watching once, and a swing has to be grabbed and released at the right instant to clear a pit. Levels ramp up by combining more of these hazards in the same stretch rather than by adding new mechanics, so later stages reward the muscle memory built in earlier ones.
Controls
- Move left/right: A/D or the Left/Right arrow keys
- Jump: W, Up arrow, or Spacebar
- Climb down: S or the Down arrow key
Tips
- Watch a saw's full sweep once before committing to a run past it — the pattern repeats.
- Let go of a rope swing at the top of its arc, not the bottom, to clear wider pits.
- Short hops give more control near spike pits than a full-length jump.
Plonky plays in the browser with nothing to install, and works on touch as well as keyboard, so it suits quick sessions on a phone or tablet just as well as a desktop break.
