Lava Bird is a frantic one-button flyer with a twist: your fireballs are the danger. Enemy birds chase you across a lava-lit sky, and the only way to fight back is to shoot forward — but every fireball you launch also becomes an obstacle you have to dodge yourself a second later. The result is a tighter, meaner spin on the flappy-bird formula, where staying alive means threading a path through your own crossfire while spikes and rivals close in.
A run only lasts as long as your nerve holds. There's no aiming and no way to steer a shot once it's fired, so the tension comes entirely from timing: when to climb, when to dive, and when to hold off firing so you don't box yourself in. Kill enough birds in a run and a short story sequence unlocks, giving the scoring chase a reason to keep going beyond a high score.
Controls
Spacebar (or tap/click on mobile) both fires a fireball and keeps you airborne — hold or tap it rhythmically to fly, and time your presses to shoot at the birds behind you.
Tips
- Fire early and often — waiting too long to shoot lets birds bunch up behind you with no clean line of sight.
- Track your own last fireball; it doesn't disappear the instant you fire it, and it's the projectile that ends the most careless runs.
- Climb before a cluster of spikes rather than after — the game punishes reacting late more than it punishes flying cautiously.
It's a short, replayable pick for anyone who likes flappy-style timing games with a bit of extra bite, playable straight in the browser with nothing to install.
