About Hoppenhelm

Hoppenhelm puts you in the boots of a knight who can't stop climbing. A pool of pink liquid fills the screen from the bottom and kills on contact, so every level is really one long climb away from it — hop between platforms, cut down whatever's in your path, and don't look down.

Each run is procedurally generated, so the platform layout, enemies and traps never line up the same way twice. Coins collected along the way go toward unlocking new knights and weapons, and runs are scored against a leaderboard, which makes it as much a "beat my last climb" game as a sit-down session.

Controls

Hoppenhelm is built around three large on-screen buttons made for one-handed play: one to jump, one to attack, and one to block. There's no complex combo system — reading the platform ahead and hitting the right button at the right moment is the whole game.

Tips

  • The rising liquid is the real clock, not the enemies — keep moving up even when a platform looks safe to linger on.
  • Block is there for a reason: use it when you're about to take a hit you can't dodge, rather than trying to out-jump everything.
  • A coin that's out of your path isn't worth a detour — losing your climb for a small pickup is a bad trade.

Hoppenhelm FAQ

What are the controls in Hoppenhelm?
Three on-screen buttons made for one-handed play: jump, attack and block. Reading the platforms ahead and timing those three buttons is the whole game.
What happens if the rising liquid catches you?
Contact with it ends your run, so the real goal each level is to keep climbing ahead of it rather than lingering on any one platform.
Are the levels the same every time?
No, layouts are procedurally generated, so platforms, enemies and traps come in a different order each run.
What do coins do?
Coins collected during a climb go toward unlocking new knights and weapons.
