Gladihoppers drops you into a Roman arena as a floppy, physics-driven gladiator whose limbs swing with real momentum instead of clean animation frames. Every strike, block and stumble comes from ragdoll physics, so a fight rarely goes the way either side plans — a wild swing can connect by accident, and a solid hit can still leave your gladiator sprawled on the sand. It's less about memorized combos and more about reading your opponent's stance and timing a swing before they do.

You pick between two combat stances, each with its own set of directional attacks that trade power for speed, and back them up with javelins for ranged damage. Winning fights earns gold and gear — over 90 swords, axes, maces, shields, helmets, chest pieces, gloves and boots to mix and match, each changing how your gladiator moves and hits. Career mode sends you up through the ranks toward the Emperor's champions, Arcade mode throws endless waves of tougher opponents at you, and Quick Fight and Practice modes are there when you just want to test a loadout without commitment.

Controls

Desktop: W, A, S, D to move; the arrow keys (Up, Down, Left, Right) to attack in different directions; E to throw your javelin. An Xbox controller is also supported and recommended for finer control over the physics-based swings.

Mobile/tablet: an on-screen joystick handles movement, with touch buttons for switching stance, attacking and throwing.

Tips

• Switch stances mid-fight rather than sticking to one — the two stances hit at different speeds, and an opponent expecting your usual pattern is easier to catch off guard.
• Save your javelin for when an opponent is out of melee range or recovering from a fall; landing it while they're down deals easy free damage.
• Heavier gear hits harder but slows your swings, so match your loadout to your stance rather than just grabbing whatever has the biggest damage number.
• In Arcade mode, prioritize surviving over aggression early on — the waves ramp up quickly, and a gladiator that's still standing outlasts one that trades hits evenly.

Your career progress and unlocked gear save automatically in the browser, so it plays well as a game you dip into for a few fights at a time rather than one long sitting.
