Football Blitz Game

Football Blitz is a two-player arcade soccer game that trades realistic simulation for costumed chaos: chickens, superheroes and oddball characters chase a ball around a tight pitch where shooting on goal and shoulder-checking the player are treated more or less the same move. It plays closer to a scrappy local-multiplayer brawler than a football sim, built around short matches and scoring first rather than careful passing or formations.

Six teams are available from the menu, each locked to its own costume, and there is more to unlock beyond that: extra teams, balls and stadiums open up by working through the game's challenges and winning tournament mode. Picking a silly outfit before kickoff is as much a part of the fun as the match itself.

Controls

Move your player around the field with the arrow keys. The space bar does double duty: press it to shoot when you have the ball, or to tackle the opponent when you don't. It also works on touchscreen if you're playing on mobile.

Tips

• The space bar covers both shooting and tackling, so time it rather than mashing it — a mistimed tackle just gives the player an opening.
• Work through the challenges and tournament mode early if you want access to the rest of the teams, balls and stadiums.

It suits players after a quick, goofy head-to-head match rather than anyone looking for a realistic football sim.
