About Final Ninja

Final Ninja is a stealth-platformer from Nitrome, first released as a Flash game in 2008 and later rebuilt in HTML5. You play Takeshi, a ninja trying to leave his old life behind while his former boss Akuma sends enemies after him across twenty levels of rooftops, corridors and industrial hideouts.

The signature move is the grappling hook: fire it at anchor points to swing across gaps, reach ledges above you, or yank yourself out of danger. Between swings you sneak past patrolling guards by ducking into shadow, throw ninja stars to take enemies out from a distance, and time jumps carefully, since a single hit or a bad fall usually means restarting the level.

Controls

  • Move: A/D or Left/Right arrow keys
  • Jump: W or Up arrow key
  • Crouch / hide in shadow: S or Down arrow key
  • Aim and fire the grappling hook: hold the left mouse button

Tips

  • Let go of the grapple at the top of a swing's arc to carry momentum into the next jump instead of dropping straight down.
  • Guards have a limited line of sight — hugging shadowed tiles is usually safer than trying to out-run a patrol.
  • Ninja stars are worth saving for guards standing between you and a grapple point you need, rather than every enemy on screen.

It suits players who like precise, momentum-based platforming with a stealth edge, and who don't mind repeating a tricky section a few times to land the timing.

Final Ninja FAQ

Who made Final Ninja?
Final Ninja was developed by Nitrome, originally released as a Flash game before being rebuilt in HTML5.
How does the grappling hook work?
Hold the left mouse button to fire and hold onto the grapple, which lets you swing across gaps and reach higher ledges.
Do I need to avoid guards, or can I fight them?
You can throw ninja stars to take guards out from a distance, but hiding in shadow with S or the Down arrow is usually safer than a direct fight.
Can I play Final Ninja on mobile?
It's built around precise mouse aiming for the grapple, so it plays best on a computer with a mouse rather than a touchscreen.
