Crown Guard is a tower defense game built around a single, unusual twist: instead of just placing towers, you also draw the path your own soldiers walk to attack the enemy. Waves of enemies march toward your crown from one side of the map, and it's up to you to slow them down with towers on the empty tiles while sending your own troops out along a route you sketch yourself.
A run comes down to balancing offense and defense at the same time. Gold mines placed on the map generate the resources you spend on towers and reinforcements, so protecting your economy matters as much as blocking the enemy's advance. Beating a level earns gems, which carry over between runs to permanently upgrade your defenses, making each attempt a little stronger than the last.
Controls
Everything is played with a mouse or a finger on a touchscreen. Tap or click an empty tile to build a tower there, and drag to draw the path your soldiers should follow toward the enemy. No keyboard is needed, which makes it equally comfortable on desktop, phone, or tablet.
Tips
- Don't neglect gold mines early — a stronger economy lets you afford better towers before the later waves ramp up.
- Spend gems on permanent upgrades between runs rather than saving them, since every level restarts your temporary defenses from scratch.
- Draw soldier paths that avoid your own towers' blind spots so offense and defense reinforce each instead of getting in the way.
It's a good fit for short, replayable sessions — quick enough to fit into a break, with enough strategy in the tower and path placement to reward a bit of planning.
