The Chrome Dino is the legendary endless runner built right into Google Chrome to keep you entertained when your internet connection drops. You control a solitary T-Rex running across a minimalist desert, hopping over cacti and dodging incoming pterodactyls. It is the perfect distillation of a high-score chaser: there are no levels, no power-ups, and no second chances.
As your score climbs, the speed relentlessly increases. What starts as a casual stroll quickly turns into a blur of twitch reactions. At higher milestones, the game inverts its colors to simulate day and night cycles, adding a visual twist just when you need to concentrate the most.
Controls
- Spacebar or Up Arrow: Jump over obstacles
- Down Arrow: Duck under flying pterodactyls (and fast-fall from jumps)
Tips
- Fast-fall for precision: Pressing the down arrow while in mid-air forces the T-Rex to drop instantly. This is crucial at high speeds when you need to land quickly between tightly grouped cacti.
- Look ahead, not at the dino: When the speed maxes out, staring at the dinosaur is a guaranteed game over. Keep your eyes fixed on the right edge of the screen to give yourself the maximum reaction time.
