Cat Trap Game

Cat Trap (originally known as Chat Noir or Circle the Cat) is a minimalist, turn-based puzzle game that challenges your spatial reasoning and foresight. The game places you in front of a hexagonal grid with a mischievous black cat positioned right in the center. Your objective is to completely block all possible paths, trapping the cat before it can slip past the grid's outer boundary and escape.

Every session begins with a randomized layout of pre-filled barriers, making each playthrough a unique challenge. Every time you select a tile to erect a barrier, the cat responds by taking a single step toward freedom. The pace is entirely up to you, allowing you to study the board, calculate pathways, and anticipate the cat's next move. It is a battle of intelligence where one wrong click can open up an unstoppable escape route.

Controls

The game is fully playable using simple touch or mouse controls:

• Left Click / Tap: Select any light-colored hexagon on the grid to turn it into a dark barrier.

Tips

• Build a wide perimeter: Do not just click right next to the cat. The cat will easily step around close blocks. Instead, construct a larger ring of barriers further away to block off entire escape paths early.
• Use the pre-set barriers: Examine the random dark dots at the start of the game. Try to connect your new barriers to these existing blocks to close off paths with fewer moves.
• Block the shortest path: The cat always tries to take the shortest route to the edge. Anticipate its trajectory and place blocks where it wants to go next.
