Castle Wars Modern is a local two-player battle game — one keyboard, two fighters, three-minute rounds. You and a second player each control a soldier dropped into a themed arena (a city, the moon, or an alien world called Xon), armed with a shifting arsenal of guns, melee weapons, and throwables, with swords that double as projectiles when thrown.
The twist that separates it from a straight shooter: you can build blocks on the fly to wall off incoming fire or box in your opponent, so a fight is as much about the terrain you're throwing up as it is about aim. Outside the main Battle mode, Mayhem and Robot Zombies modes rearrange the same tools into different objectives, all still built around the same one-keyboard, split-controls setup.
Controls
Two players share one keyboard. Player 1 uses W to jump, A/D to move, S to build a block, E to fight, and Q to switch weapons. Player 2 uses the Arrow Keys to move and jump, L to fight, and M to switch weapons. UI buttons can also be clicked with the mouse or tapped on mobile.
Tips
- Throw your sword instead of just swinging it — it works as a ranged weapon when tossed, which is easy to miss if you only think of it as melee.
- Build a block the instant you're caught in the open. It's the fastest way to break an opponent's line of fire, not just a wall for later.
- Switch weapons on the move rather than standing still to do it — the round is only three minutes, and idle seconds add up against a second player who isn't idling.
Because both sets of controls sit on one keyboard, it plays best sitting next to whoever you're battling — pull it up on the same screen and the whole three-minute clock becomes a race to out-build and out-gun the person right beside you.
