Bloons Tower Defense 4 drops you right into the path of an endless helium invasion. As the commander of a primate army, you place dart-throwing monkeys, tack shooters, and cannons along winding tracks to pop waves of balloons before they can reach the exit. Every popped balloon earns you cash, which goes straight back into buying more towers or unlocking powerful upgrades to handle the increasingly dense swarms.
A typical match escalates from a quiet trickle of single red balloons to chaotic waves of fast-moving ceramics and massive blimps. You have to constantly re-evaluate your defenses, balancing cheap early-game coverage against saving up for heavy hitters like the Super Monkey to survive the later rounds. The progression is tightly tuned, making every upgrade choice feel impactful as you squeeze the most popping power out of limited track space.
Controls
- Mouse: Click to select, place, and upgrade towers from the right-hand panel.
Tips
- Place your first towers near tight corners or loops where their attack radius covers multiple sections of the track.
- Don't underestimate the Glue Gunner. A single well-placed glue tower can stall a cluster of fast balloons long enough for your heavy cannons to catch up.
- Lead balloons start appearing on round 28. Make sure you have at least one Bomb Tower or a magic-based attack ready by then, or your run will end abruptly.
- Upgrading a few towers fully is almost always more effective than spamming dozens of low-level monkeys.
If you enjoy methodical strategy that rewards careful placement and resource management, this installment captures the core of the tower defense formula perfectly.
