Bloons Tower Defense 3 is the third entry in Ninja Kiwi's browser strategy series, first released in 2008. Waves of colorful bloons march along a fixed track, and the only way to stop them is to line monkey towers along the path and pop as many as possible before they slip past the exit.
Each round adds tougher bloons to the mix, so a session is really a running economy problem: pop early waves cheaply, bank the cash, and reinvest it into stronger towers and upgrades before the harder colors show up. A run can last anywhere from a few relaxed rounds to a long grind through the game's hardest waves.
Towers
The roster runs from cheap early options to expensive late-game specialists. The Dart Monkey is the affordable starting tower; the Tack Shooter covers tight bends by firing in eight directions at once; the Boomerang Thrower and Spike-O-Pult hit multiple bloons per shot; the Ice Tower freezes a cluster in place; the Cannon is the reliable way to pop Lead Bloons; and the Super Monkey is the priciest, hardest-hitting tower in the game. The Monkey Beacon doesn't attack at all — it boosts the range and speed of nearby towers, and upgrading it into a Monkey Storm Beacon unlocks the one-time Super Monkey Storm, which clears every ordinary bloon on the track at once.
Special Abilities
Three consumable abilities sit outside the regular tower roster: Road Spikes lay down ten uses of instant-pop damage on the track, Exploding Pineapples detonate a few seconds after being placed (strong against Lead Bloons, useless against Black), and Monkey Glue slows a stretch of track for up to twenty bloons. None of them can be upgraded — they're one-shot tools worth saving for the rounds that actually need them.
Tips
- Lean on Dart Monkeys for the first few rounds — they're cheap enough to place several and still bank cash for upgrades later.
- Save your Cannon, or the Super Monkey Storm, for Lead Bloons; regular darts, tacks and boomerangs can't touch them.
- Pair an Ice Tower with a Cannon or Super Monkey — a frozen bloon still takes damage from area attacks, so the freeze just buys extra hits.
- Hold Road Spikes and Exploding Pineapples in reserve rather than burning them on early rounds; they matter far more once waves get dense.
It's a good fit for anyone who wants a short, focused strategy session without the sprawl of the series' later entries — just a track, a cash counter, and increasingly stubborn bloons.
