Arrow Pathway is a minimalist, logic-based puzzle platformer created by Robert Alvarez where your goal is to guide a character safely to each level's exit portal. Unlike standard platformers where you control character movements like running or jumping directly, this game employs an indirect control scheme that prioritizes foresight and planning. You must arrange directional arrows on a grid layout before launching the character.
Each level gives you a limited inventory of directional symbols to position. When you start the sequence, the character automatically moves forward and follows the paths indicated by your placed arrows. If your plan has a single flaw, the character will walk off the ledge or collide with hazards, prompting you to reset, tweak the placement, and try again.
Controls
- Left Click / Tap: Select a directional arrow from your inventory and place it onto a grid tile.
- Play Button: Start the character's movement to execute and test your route.
- Reset Button: Return the character to the starting position and retrieve your arrows for adjustments.
- Hint Button: Reveal a solution guide if you get stuck on a complicated puzzle.
Tips and Strategies
- Trace Backwards: If you are struggling to find the route, look at the exit portal first. Work your way backward tile-by-tile to determine which final arrows are required to reach the goal.
- Identify Path Bottlenecks: Certain tiles or narrow platforms can only be traversed in one direction. Identify these bottlenecks first to lock in the mandatory arrow placements.
- Analyze Failure Points: Don't just click reset immediately when a run fails. Watch the exact tile where the character veers off-course to figure out which direction is missing.
- Manage Your Inventory: You are provided with a fixed set of arrows (such as left, right, or up) for each puzzle. If you run out of a specific direction, you may need to find an alternative route that utilizes your remaining inventory.
