About Shortcut Race

Shortcut Race is a fast-paced, high-stakes running game where your path to victory is entirely up to you. Instead of sticking to the winding tracks suspended over the ocean, you can take daring shortcuts across the open water. The key to winning is collecting wooden planks scattered along the track to build your own bridges, allowing you to bypass long bends and outrun your competitors.

Every race is a tense balancing act between risk and reward. Building a shortcut burns through your collected planks rapidly; running out of wood mid-bridge means falling into the water, wasting valuable seconds. You must decide on the fly when to build, when to save, and how to outmaneuver the racers to cross the finish line first.

Controls

  • Mouse: Click and drag left or right to steer your character.
  • Keyboard: Press the Left and Right Arrow keys (or A and D) to move.
  • Touch Screens: Tap and swipe left or right to steer.

Winning Tips

  • Watch your stack: Do not attempt long shortcuts unless you have accumulated a high stack of planks. Running out of wood over water will send you resetting back to the track.
  • Steal opponent bridges: You can run on bridges already built by racers. This saves your own planks for later, giving you a massive advantage in the final stretch.
  • Snatch planks early: Focus on gathering as many floorboards as possible in the initial stages. Having a deep reserve of planks gives you more options when the track starts branching.
  • Unlock custom skins: Use the coins you earn from placing first to customize your runner with new outfits and unique block designs.

Shortcut Race FAQ

How do you build shortcuts in Shortcut Race?
To build a shortcut, run off the main track onto the water. If you have collected wooden planks, your character will automatically lay them down to form a bridge.
What happens if you run out of planks while building a bridge?
If you run out of planks before reaching land or another part of the track, you will fall into the water and respawn back on the main track, losing valuable time.
Can you run on bridges built by other players?
Yes! You can run on bridges created by your opponents without spending your own planks. This is a great strategy to save your wood stack for later in the race.
