Short Ride is a side-scrolling physics game that challenges you to guide a fragile character through a gauntlet of lethal hazards using various wheeled vehicles. However, the game's highly volatile ragdoll physics and devious level design mean that a single mistimed acceleration can result in a gruesome, comical crash.

Success in this trial of survival relies entirely on momentum, patience, and reading the traps ahead. You will need to carefully guide your character past swinging blades, sudden spikes, explosive barrels, and falling boulders. Because your character can lose limbs and continue riding, you must decide when to push forward cautiously and when to abandon your vehicle entirely to walk the rest of the way on foot.

Controls

Short Ride features simple keyboard controls for desktop play:

• Up Arrow or W: Accelerate or move forward
• Down Arrow or S: Brake or reverse
• Left/Right Arrows or A/D: Tilt backward or forward to balance your vehicle
• Spacebar: Jump, or dismount/mount your vehicle

Survival Tips

• Observe trap cycles: Most hazards, such as guillotine-like blades and crushing blocks, operate on predictable timers. Wait for the trap to activate once before trying to rush past it.
• Master the tilt: When jumping over gaps or landing from ramps, tilt your vehicle slightly backward to land on your rear wheel. This prevents your character from tumbling over the handlebars.
• Dismount when necessary: Some narrow spaces or steep drops are impossible to clear while on your vehicle. Press the Spacebar to hop off and walk through tight spots on foot.
• Collect stars cautiously: Each stage has three optional stars. While collecting them is satisfying, many are placed as bait directly inside deadly trap zones. Prioritize reaching the finish line first.
