About Running Fred

Running Fred is a fast-paced 3D platformer and endless runner that throws you into a deadly sprint for survival. Playing as Fred, you must sprint through a series of increasingly dangerous castles and dungeons to escape the grim reaper. Instead of just dodging left and right, you have to precisely time your jumps, double jumps, and wall-runs to clear massive gaps and avoid gruesome traps like swinging scythes, spinning saw blades, and floor spikes.

The game is famous for its chaotic physics and dark humor, punishing mistakes with spectacular, over-the-top ragdoll wipeouts. As you survive longer, the speed intensifies and the traps become far less forgiving. Along the way, you collect skulls which you can spend on unlocking new skills like double jumps, or purchasing new characters and cosmetic outfits to customize your runs.

Controls

  • Arrow Keys / WASD: Move left, right, jump, and slide
  • Spacebar: Jump over obstacles or gaps
  • Wall Run: Jump toward a smooth wall to run along it

Tips

Prioritize survival over collecting every single skull. The levels are littered with deadly hazards, and risking a jump into a trap just for a few extra skulls will quickly end your run. Master the wall-run early on, as many later sections require you to seamlessly string together wall-runs and jumps to cross wide chasms where the floor is completely missing.
