Popular Words is a quiz game built around a simple question: what would most people say? Each round gives you a fill-in-the-blank prompt, like an everyday question or common phrase, and your job is to guess one of the top five most common answers real people gave — not the "correct" answer, just the popular one.
You get several guesses per round, and a wrong answer isn't wasted: the game shows you the first letter of the answers you haven't found yet, narrowing things down as you go. It rewards quick lateral thinking more than trivia knowledge, since the goal is predicting a crowd's instincts rather than recalling a fact.
Controls
- Type your answer using the keyboard, or tap the on-screen keyboard on mobile
- Mouse or touch to select and submit
Tips
- If you're stuck, guess the most obvious, common-sense answer first — that's usually one of the top five.
- Use the revealed first letters to rule out answers you've already tried mentally before typing.
- Short, everyday words tend to score better than clever or unusual ones — the game rewards what most people would actually say.
Works on desktop, phone and tablet, and each round is short enough for quick sessions between things.
