Neon War is a one-button arcade shooter with a twist: you never aim and you never fire. A cannon at the bottom of the screen shoots on its own, and your only job is to hold the mouse button down and slide it left and right to stay under the numbered blocks raining down from above. Each number is a hit count — clear it before the block reaches your cannon, or the run ends.
The pace builds fast. Blocks fall in overlapping columns, so most of the challenge is deciding which stack to sit under next rather than landing individual shots. Credits earned from destroyed blocks buy permanent upgrades between runs — more damage, a faster fire rate, extra health, and a pet that adds passive firepower — so later attempts start stronger than the first.
Controls
Hold the left mouse button and drag horizontally to move the cannon. Release to stop firing. That's the entire control scheme — there's no separate aim or shoot button.
Tips
- Track incoming numbers, not just position — a "1" block is worth abandoning your current lane for if it's about to land.
- Put early upgrade credits into fire rate before damage; clearing blocks faster keeps more lanes open at once.
- Save the pet upgrade for once your base cannon already survives a few runs — it compounds with a stronger core build.
It plays in short bursts and runs entirely in the browser, so it suits a quick session as easily as a longer high-score chase.
