About Light The Lamp

Light the Lamp is a physics puzzle about one simple job: get an electric plug into its socket. Each level drops the plug and its target into a small enclosed space full of things that get in the way, and you nudge and rotate the plug through the gap without letting it snag on a spinning saw blade along the route.

The puzzle is in the movement, not in the plug itself. Pushing the plug swings and turns it like a pendulum, so lining it up with the socket usually means over- or under-shooting a few times before you find the angle that threads it through cleanly. Levels are unlocked one at a time from a level-select screen, and later ones tighten the space around the socket and add more blades to dodge.

Controls

  • Arrow keys or WASD to move the plug
  • On touchscreens, on-screen arrow buttons replace the keys

Tips

  • Small taps of a direction key control the swing better than holding it down
  • Watch a saw blade's full rotation before committing to a path past it
  • If a level feels stuck, back the plug off and re-approach the socket from a different angle rather than forcing the same line again

It plays in short bursts — a level rarely takes more than a minute or two — which makes it an easy game to pick up for a few tries between things.

Light The Lamp FAQ

How do I control the plug?
Use the arrow keys or WASD to move it. On a phone or tablet, on-screen arrow buttons appear in the same spots.
What happens if the plug touches a saw blade?
It stops you from completing the level, so you need to time your path around the blade's spin rather than push straight through it.
Do I have to play the levels in order?
Levels unlock one at a time from the level-select screen as you clear the one before it.
Does Light the Lamp work on mobile?
Yes, it runs in a mobile browser with touch controls, no install needed.
