About Get On Top

Get On Top is a physics-based wrestling game from Bennett Foddy, the designer behind QWOP and GIRP, and it shares their deliberately awkward, floppy movement. Two ragdoll fighters share one keyboard, each trying to slam the 's head into the floor while keeping their own head up. Every step is a fight against your own character's momentum, so a single overcommitted lunge can flip you onto your back and hand your opponent the point.

Matches are short and scored: the first head-to-floor knockdown wins a point, and the first player to reach 11 points wins the match. Because the controls are intentionally clumsy, most points come from a mix of patience, weight-shifting and the occasional lucky shove rather than any clean "combo," which is what makes it fun to play against a friend sitting next to you rather than a stranger online.

Controls

  • Player 1: W, A, S, D to move
  • Player 2: Arrow keys to move

There's no jump or punch button — every action is a product of pushing your limbs against the ground and each , so expect a short adjustment period before movement starts to feel readable.

Tips

  • Stay low and wide. A crouched, spread-out stance is much harder to tip over than standing tall.
  • Watch your opponent's head height, not their limbs — the moment it drops near the floor, lean in to finish the point.
  • Don't fight momentum head-on. If you're falling, try to redirect the fall into a shove rather than fighting to stay upright.
  • Short, small key taps give you finer control than holding a direction down, especially when you're close to losing balance.

It's best played the way it was designed: two people, one keyboard, a few minutes to spare, and no expectation of looking graceful.

Get On Top FAQ

How many players does Get On Top need?
Two, sharing one keyboard side by side — Player 1 uses WASD and Player 2 uses the arrow keys.
What are the controls?
Player 1 moves with W, A, S, D and Player 2 moves with the arrow keys. There are no separate jump or attack buttons; every move comes from pushing your limbs against the ground and your opponent.
How do you win a match?
Knock your opponent's head to the floor before they knock yours down. The first player to score 11 knockdowns wins the match.
Can I play it alone?
It's built around two players on one keyboard, so you'll need a second person next to you to play a match.
