Fireboy and Watergirl 1: Forest Temple Game

In this cooperative puzzle platformer, you take control of two elemental characters trapped in a mysterious ancient structure. The game is built entirely around dual-character mechanics, where neither hero can succeed alone. Every stage is a self-contained riddle of levers, light beams, and pressure plates that require careful positioning and timing to overcome.

A typical run involves figuring out how to safely transport both characters to their matching exit doors. Since each character has fatal elemental weaknesses, you constantly have to swap roles—using Fireboy to walk through lava pools to flip a switch, allowing Watergirl to safely pass through and freeze a water hazard later on. It is an excellent test of communication if you have a friend next to you, or a satisfying test of coordination if you try to control both characters solo.

Controls

Each character is mapped to a different side of the keyboard, making it easy for two people to play on one computer.

• Fireboy: Use the Left, Right, and Up arrow keys to run and jump.
• Watergirl: Use the A, D, and W keys to move and jump.

Tips for the Forest Temple

• Look before leaping: When you start a level, trace the path backward from the exit doors. You can often see which pressure plates connect to the gates blocking your way before you even move.
• Mind the green goo: While lava only hurts Watergirl and water only hurts Fireboy, the green toxic sludge will kill either character instantly. Always jump clear of it.
• Push blocks together: Some stone push-blocks are quite heavy. If you want to move them faster across the floor, have both characters push against them at the same time.
