About Dangle

Dangle drops you in as a spider hanging from a single thread, and the only way down is to swing there yourself. Move the mouse to rock the spider side to side, building up momentum with each swing, then click to grab onto the next platform below. It's less about fast reflexes and more about reading the arc of your swing — rush it and you'll crash into a wall or a hazard instead of landing clean.

Each of the 15 levels is a vertical descent packed with things that want to stop you: spike-covered platforms, swinging ball-and-chains, and a rotating cast of enemies — jumping Mr. Stabs, air-blasting Mr. Blows, and Mr. Snips, who cuts your thread outright if he catches you. The spider starts every level with three hearts, and losing them all sends you back to the start of that level.

Controls

  • Move the mouse to swing the spider left and right
  • Click with the cursor above the spider to climb back up the web
  • Click with the cursor below the spider to descend

Tips

  • Build your swing gradually instead of yanking the mouse — a slow, wide arc clears more ground than a jerky one
  • Land on a platform to reset your swing rather than fighting momentum near a hazard
  • Watch Mr. Snips before committing to a swing near him — one touch ends the level instantly, so it's often worth waiting for him to move
  • Aim for the gaps between hazards rather than trying to power through them; three hearts disappear fast on the later levels

Dangle suits players who like short, physics-driven challenges where timing and patience matter more than speed — it's an early Nitrome game and still plays like a tight arcade puzzle.

Dangle FAQ

How do you control the spider in Dangle?
Move the mouse to swing the spider side to side, then click with the cursor above the spider to climb up or below it to descend.
What happens when you run out of hearts?
The spider starts each level with three hearts. Losing them all restarts you at the beginning of that level.
How many levels does Dangle have?
15 levels, each a vertical descent with its own layout of hazards and enemies.
Is there a way to avoid Mr. Snips?
He cuts your thread on contact, which ends the level instantly, so it's best to wait for him to move before swinging past.
