About Block Toggle

Block Toggle is a platform-puzzle game by Robert Alvarez, his second release after Isotiles, and it's built around one idea: colored blocks that appear and disappear on command. You walk and jump through short levels toward an exit, and getting there means switching the right blocks on or off at the right moment to build a path that only exists for as long as you need it.

The game teaches itself as you go. Early levels introduce one block type at a time — some that vanish permanently the moment you step off them, others tied to jumping rather than a toggle key — before combining them into tighter puzzles later on. Nothing about it is twitchy or timed; the difficulty is entirely in figuring out the sequence, not in reflexes.

Controls

  • Left/Right Arrows or A/D: Move
  • Up Arrow or W: Jump
  • 1, 2, 3: Toggle the matching colored blocks

Tips

  • Toggle a block only when you're about to use it — leaving color groups switched on out of habit is how you accidentally seal off your own path.
  • When a level introduces a new block type, take a slow lap through it before rushing; the twist is usually shown early and repeated later at speed.
  • If a block vanishes for good after one step, treat it as a one-way door and plan the route backward from the exit.

Block Toggle FAQ

How do you play Block Toggle?
Move with the arrow keys or A/D, jump with up or W, and press 1, 2 or 3 to toggle the matching colored blocks on or off, building a path to each level's exit.
What do the 1, 2 and 3 keys do?
Each number switches one color of block between solid and passable. Later levels combine multiple colors, so timing which one you toggle matters.
Can blocks disappear permanently?
Yes, some block types vanish for good the moment you step off them, so those sections work as one-way paths rather than something you can toggle back.
Is Block Toggle a difficult game?
It starts easy and introduces one new block mechanic at a time, then combines them into harder puzzles later, so difficulty ramps up gradually rather than starting hard.
