2048 Cupcakes is a bakery-themed spin on the sliding-tile puzzle 2048, built on the same open-source engine as the original: a 4x4 grid where you slide every cupcake on the board in one direction at once, and any two touching cupcakes of the same tier fuse into the next one up. A fresh cupcake appears after each move, so the board slowly fills while you try to keep merging your way toward the big rainbow cupcake at the 2048 tier.
There's no timer and no lives — just you against a shrinking amount of empty space. Each round is quick to restart when you get boxed in, which makes it an easy game to pick up for five minutes and put down again. Reaching 2048 doesn't end the run either; the board stays open afterward if you want to keep pushing for higher tiers.
Controls
Arrow keys slide the board up, down, left, or right. On a touchscreen, swipe in the direction you want to move instead.
Tips
- Pick one corner and keep your highest-value cupcake parked there — moving away from it and back tends to scatter your progress.
- Try to keep your tiles roughly ordered from highest to lowest along one edge, so smaller cupcakes can chain into bigger ones instead of getting stranded.
- Look at where a new cupcake is likely to land before you commit to a move — filling the board without an escape route is the usual way a run ends.
It plays straight in the browser with nothing to install, so it's an easy game to keep in a spare tab for a short break.
