There Is No Game is a short, clever puzzle experience where the narrator actively tries to convince you to leave. Originally created as a game jam entry, it challenges you to ignore the narrator's instructions and break the title screen to uncover the hidden mechanics underneath. Every interaction is a tug-of-war against the game's own interface.
Instead of exploring a traditional world, your cursor is your only tool to pry loose letters, mess with volume icons, and reveal hidden minigames. The experience is essentially a comedy routine mixed with a point-and-click adventure, where the puzzles rely on out-of-the-box thinking rather than complex inventory management.
Controls
The entire game is played using just your mouse.
- Left Click: Interact with objects, pick up items, and drag elements across the screen.
- Drop: Release the left mouse button to drop held items, which is often required to break scenery.
Tips
- Ignore the Narrator: When he tells you not to click something, that is exactly what you should click.
- Use Gravity: Many puzzles require you to pick up objects and drop them from high up to smash open elements on the screen.
- Mess With the Settings: Pay close attention to the sound icon and standard menu buttons, as they are not just for show.
This bite-sized adventure takes about 10 to 15 minutes to finish. It is a brilliant example of fourth-wall-breaking design that will appeal to fans of meta-humor and unconventional puzzle solving.
