Tetris Game

Tetris is the block-stacking puzzle game that needs no introduction: seven falling shapes, one board, and the simple rule of clearing horizontal lines before the stack reaches the top. It was created in 1984 by Soviet programmer Alexey Pajitnov, and this browser version brings that same core loop over with a live score, level counter, and a preview of the next piece.

Each round speeds up as you clear lines and climb levels, so the real skill is reading the next piece early and deciding where it fits before it starts falling. A messy stack punishes you a few pieces later; a flat one keeps your options open.

Controls

• Left / Right arrow – move the piece
• Up arrow – rotate the piece
• Down arrow – soft drop
• Spacebar – hard drop

Tips

• Keep the stack flat and even — a jagged surface with deep gaps is much harder to clear later.
• Check the Next piece preview before you commit to a placement, not after.
• Clearing four lines at once scores far more than clearing them one at a time, so it's worth leaving a single column open for a straight piece when you can.

It's an easy game to pick up for five minutes or lose an hour to, and it plays straight in the browser with nothing to install.
