Mimelet is a short, tidy platform-puzzle game about a little creature that steals its enemies' powers. There's no combat to speak of — you jump on top of an enemy, absorb whatever ability it's guarding, and use that new power to get past the block type standing between you and the level's flag. Each of the twenty levels adds a new obstacle that only makes sense once you've picked up the right power.
The powers themselves double as the puzzle pieces: leaf power lets you walk on grass blocks, fire power breaks pink blocks, water power lets you swim, thunder power lets you flow through yellow blocks, and stone power breaks brown blocks (at the cost of a lower jump). Air power trades the opposite way, giving you more height and hang time. Working out which power a level wants you to be carrying, and in what order, is most of the challenge — the platforming itself stays simple throughout.
Controls
- Left / Right arrow keys — move
- Up arrow key — jump
Tips
- Powers don't stack — picking up a new one replaces whatever you're currently carrying, so backtrack for an old power if a later section needs it.
- Stone power shortens your jump, so switch back to a lighter power before any gap you need real height to clear.
- If a block type won't budge, you're carrying the wrong power, not standing in the wrong spot — go find the enemy that has the one you need.
- Level 20 ends in a short boss fight against an evil version of Mimelet; three jumps on its head finishes it.
Mimelet runs straight in the browser with nothing to install, and its levels are short enough to fit into a spare few minutes.
