Friday Night Funkin' B-Sides is a comprehensive overhaul mod that takes the entire original game and flips it on its head. Every single track from the first six weeks has been remixed with heavier beats, faster tempos, and entirely new genres. Alongside the musical revamp, the familiar cast of characters have all received fresh palette swaps, giving the entire experience a darker, alternate-universe aesthetic.
Playing B-Sides feels like stepping into a much less forgiving version of the rhythm game you already know. The note charts have been completely rewritten to match the aggressive new remixes, throwing relentless streams of arrows and tricky syncopated patterns at you. It is explicitly designed to challenge veteran players who have already mastered the original songs, turning familiar battles into grueling tests of stamina and reading speed.
Controls
- Up, Down, Left, Right Arrows or W, A, S, D to hit notes
- Enter to pause the game or select menu options
- Escape to go back to the previous menu
Tips
- The scroll speed in B-Sides is noticeably faster than the base game. Keep your eyes near the middle of the screen rather than at the very top so you can read patterns before they reach the strike line.
- Spookeez and South (Week 2) feature massive difficulty spikes with rapid jackhammers (repeated single notes). Try using two hands on the keyboard (e.g., A/S and Up/Right) to handle these dense clusters without tiring out one hand.
- Don't be afraid to drop the difficulty to Normal or even Easy. The remixes are tough enough that "Normal" B-Sides is roughly equivalent to "Hard" in the original game.
If you've played standard Friday Night Funkin' to exhaustion and want a reason to dive back in, B-Sides delivers an incredible soundtrack and a brutal, satisfying difficulty curve.
