Duck Hunt put Nintendo's NES Zapper in millions of living rooms in 1984, and this browser version keeps the same idea while swapping the plastic light gun for a mouse. Ducks burst out of the grass against a flat sky, and you get a short window to bring each one down before it clears the top of the screen.
A round ends once you've either met the hit quota or run out of shots, and if you fall short, the game's icon — a brown retriever who normally jumps into the grass to fetch anything you hit — pops up to laugh at you instead. Clearing rounds pushes the ducks to fly faster and cut sharper turns, so early rounds are mostly about timing and later ones are about reading a duck's path before it commits to a turn.
Controls
- Aim: Move the mouse to move the crosshair.
- Fire: Left-click to shoot.
Tips
- Ducks tend to fly in straight bursts between turns — fire during one of those stretches rather than the instant a duck appears, when its path is hardest to read.
- Running out of shots before hitting quota ends the round early, so save your last shot for a duck you're actually lined up on instead of a hopeful snap shot.
- In two-duck rounds, pick one target and commit rather than swinging the crosshair back and forth between both.
It's a quick, no-instructions game that suits a five-minute break as easily as a longer session chasing a higher round.
