Dual Cat is a puzzle-platformer built around a single trick: your cat, Erwin, can be alive or dead at the same time. While alive, Erwin runs, jumps and climbs like any platformer hero. Play dead, though, and Erwin turns into a harmless, motionless ghost that guards and traps simply ignore — but one that can't move an inch. Every room in the lab is a small puzzle about switching between the two states at the right moment: staying alive long enough to reach a switch, then playing dead to slip past a patrolling robot or a hazard that would otherwise end the run.
The name is a nod to Schrödinger's cat, and the game leans into that idea rather than just using it as flavor text. Each level scatters a handful of stars for players who want to fully clear a room instead of just reaching the exit, so there is a light completionist layer on top of the core escape-the-lab loop. Runs are short, checkpoints are close together, and dying just means trying the last puzzle again.
Controls
- A/D or Left/Right arrow keys — move
- F — play dead / become alive again
- R — restart the level
Tips
- Playing dead stops you completely, so line up your position before triggering it — you can't nudge a "dead" Erwin out of danger.
- Guards and traps that react to movement usually ignore a dead cat, so use the switch to walk past patrols rather than trying to out-run them.
- Go for all three stars on a level only after you've found the exit once — knowing the safe route first makes the extra detours much less risky.
It's a good fit for short sessions: each level is a self-contained puzzle that rarely takes more than a minute or two once you see the trick, and nothing here demands twitch reflexes — just the right timing on the alive/dead switch.
