Build and Crush is a physics-based sandbox that perfectly balances the satisfaction of creation with the chaos of destruction. The gameplay loop is split into two distinct phases where you first act as an architect and then immediately become a demolition expert. You start with an empty canvas and a huge inventory of voxel blocks to construct towering skyscrapers, fortified bunkers, or sprawling pixel art. The robust physics engine means every block has weight and structural integrity, so how you build directly affects how everything comes tumbling down.
Once your masterpiece is complete, pressing a single key flips the game into an entirely different gear. The building tools are swapped out for a destructive arsenal that includes conventional weapons like missiles and lasers, alongside massive natural disasters such as tornadoes and earthquakes. Watching a meticulously crafted structure collapse under its own weight after you strategically take out its load-bearing pillars is incredibly rewarding. It runs completely in the browser with nothing to install, making it easy to jump in for a quick session of chaotic physics simulation.
Controls
- WASD: Move around the environment
- Left-Click: Place a block or fire the selected weapon
- Right-Click: Delete a block or aim
- Scroll Wheel: Cycle through the inventory quickly
- C: Toggle between Build mode and Crush mode
Tips
- Target the foundation: When trying to bring down a large structure, ignore the roof and focus your heavy weapons on the base pillars. The game's physics engine will do the rest of the work as gravity pulls the unsupported upper levels down.
- Combine disasters: Spawning a tornado will randomly toss blocks into the air, but pairing it with an earthquake shakes the structure loose, giving the tornado far more debris to pick up and throw.
- Use different materials: Not all blocks behave the same way under fire. Experiment with different block types to see which materials shatter easily and which ones can withstand a direct missile strike.
